LOGS

Once you are on a ship and you have a character, you will attend the sims every week, and during the days between the sims, you will be asked to write logs. This is an important place for you to develop your character and write more about the events of the sims. Most logs average about 500 words, although some are shorter, and some are much longer. Some sims require that players write one log per week, others one log per month, or even don't require it at all.

There are three types of logs. The first type is the Personal Log. Personal Logs are about character development, and do not influence the plot. They can be logs about rumination or logs about something your character is doing off-duty that doesn't affect the plot of the ship. Generally, when one joins a ship, one writes an introduction log about how one's character came to be onboard.

The second type of log is called an Action Log. Action logs involve your character doing things that affect or are involved with the plot of the ship. Action Logs can be places for your character to take the next step in a plot or to describe how your character is affected be the plot and what he is thinking and feeling.

The third type of log is a Joint Log. Joint logs are logs that you write with the help of another person. They are logs that are about two characters on the ship. Joint logs can affect the plot or be personal. You can write about your characters being romantic, or friendly, or fighting or just meeting. Joint logs are easier to write in some ways because you have someone to meet with who can help you write the log. The easiest way to write a joint log is to go into a chat room and have a private sim for just those characters who are going to be involved in the plot. Then you take the chat log from that private sim and write it up into a format like a story.

Every month each ship selects the best log that was written that month and submits it as their Log of the Month. The command staff of all the ships votes on those nominees and selects the best log that was written that month in the Celestial Prime Alliance. That log wins the coveted Muse Award and is published in that month's issue of the Celestial Prime Journal.
